01 Safety & Warnings

Warning

Failure to follow the installation, operation, and maintenance instructions in this manual may result in serious personal injury, death, or damage to the firearm and suppressor. Do not use this product unless you have specific training and experience in the safe operation of firearms.

A suppressed firearm is still a firearm. It is capable of causing serious bodily injury and property damage. Always treat a suppressed firearm with the same safety and caution as an unsuppressed firearm. The suppressor reduces muzzle blast — it does not make the firearm safe to handle carelessly.

Before installing or removing the suppressor, always verify the firearm is unloaded and the action is open. Visually and physically confirm the chamber is clear of any ammunition. If you are unsure how to verify your firearm is unloaded, consult your firearm’s owner’s manual or a qualified gunsmith.

The suppressor will be extremely hot after firing. Use heat-resistant gloves or allow adequate cooling time before handling. Never touch the suppressor body immediately after shooting.

The suppressor must be free of obstructions including mud, dirt, snow, and debris before firing. Do not fire through an obstructed suppressor. If submerged in water, allow the suppressor to drain completely before firing.

Verify the suppressor is securely tightened onto the barrel before every firing session, and re-check tightness after every 20–30 rounds. A loose suppressor can result in a catastrophic baffle strike, which may cause serious injury and will void the warranty.

Critical

Using the suppressor with calibers or barrel lengths outside of these restrictions will result in damage to the suppressor and may cause serious injury. Operation outside of these parameters voids the warranty immediately and permanently.

04 Ammunition Selection

The HEL1O suppressor is designed to reduce the initial muzzle blast and gas pressure following the bullet. The suppressor does not contact or interfere with the projectile, which continues to travel at its original velocity. Because of this, a supersonic crack may still be audible when using supersonic ammunition. This is a function of the bullet exceeding the speed of sound and is not related to suppressor performance.

To eliminate the sonic crack, use subsonic ammunition (muzzle velocity below approximately 1,100 fps at standard temperature). Note that subsonic ammunition is uncommon in most centerfire rifle chamberings and may not be available for your caliber.

Do not use unjacketed lead projectiles. Exposed lead will deposit inside the suppressor and cannot be effectively removed from the monolithic titanium body. Use only jacketed, plated, or solid copper/monolithic projectiles.

Caution

Do not use hand-loaded ammunition that exceeds SAAMI pressure specifications for the cartridge. Overpressure ammunition accelerates erosion and can damage the suppressor. THEORY1 System Ammo is specifically loaded to optimize performance with the HEL1O suppressor platform and is the recommended ammunition choice.

05 Installation

The HEL1O suppressor uses a 5/8×24 direct thread interface. It is a one-piece monolithic design — there is no assembly, disassembly, or separate mount system required. The suppressor threads directly onto the barrel.

About the Included Anti-Seize

Your HEL1O ships with a tube of nickel-based anti-seize lubricant. This compound is specifically selected for the steel-to-titanium thread interface on your suppressor. Nickel anti-seize is copper-free, which is critical — copper-based compounds can cause galvanic corrosion when used with titanium. The nickel formulation protects against galling, seizing, and thread damage at temperatures exceeding 2,400°F, well beyond the operating range of the suppressor. Apply anti-seize before every installation. Without it, the high heat and dissimilar metals (steel barrel threads mating to titanium suppressor threads) can cause the suppressor to seize onto the barrel, making removal extremely difficult and potentially damaging both components.
Verify the firearm is unloaded. Remove the magazine and lock the action open. Visually and physically confirm the chamber is clear.
Remove the thread protector from the barrel muzzle threads. Inspect the barrel threads for damage, debris, or cross-threading. Clean if necessary.
Apply a thin, even coat of the included nickel anti-seize to the barrel threads. Use approximately a pea-sized amount and spread it around the full circumference of the threads with your finger or the applicator tip. The threads should have a visible light grey coating — you want full coverage, not excess. Wipe away any anti-seize that gets on the barrel crown.
Thread the HEL1O suppressor onto the barrel by hand. Turn slowly and steadily. If you feel resistance before the suppressor is fully seated, stop — back it off and re-align. Do not force it. Cross-threading will damage both the barrel and suppressor threads and voids the warranty.
Hand-tighten the suppressor until it is firmly seated against the barrel shoulder. There should be no visible gap between the rear face of the suppressor and the barrel shoulder. Use the included wrench for final snugging only — do not overtighten.
Verify alignment by visually inspecting the bore. If your rifle has a muzzle brake shoulder or timing marks, confirm the suppressor is seated squarely.

Removal

Before removing, verify the firearm is unloaded and the action is open. The suppressor may be extremely hot after firing — use heat-resistant gloves or the included wrench. Turn counter-clockwise to remove. If the suppressor is stuck, do not use excessive force or tools like pliers that can damage the finish. Allow it to cool completely and try again. If a suppressor remains seized, contact THEORY1 support.
When the suppressor is not installed, always replace the thread protector on the barrel muzzle to protect the threads and crown during storage and transport.

Reapply Anti-Seize

Reapply nickel anti-seize to the barrel threads every time you install the suppressor. Over time, heat cycles burn off the compound, reducing its effectiveness. A fresh application before each installation ensures the suppressor can be removed cleanly after use.

06 Rate of Fire & Cooling

The HEL1O suppressor is an ultralight titanium design optimized for precision hunting and field use. It is not rated for sustained rapid fire, fully automatic fire, or binary trigger systems.

Rate of Fire Limits

Never exceed 15 rounds per minute. Never exceed 1 round per second. Never allow the suppressor to exceed 800°F. Exceeding these limits will cause permanent damage to the internal geometry and titanium structure and voids the warranty immediately.

Titanium is susceptible to accelerated erosion when sustained heat thresholds are exceeded without adequate cooling intervals. For typical hunting use (1–3 rounds followed by a pause), the HEL1O will perform well within its thermal limits for the life of the product. For range sessions involving multiple strings of fire, allow the suppressor to cool between strings. If the suppressor is too hot to touch with a bare hand, allow it to cool before continuing.

For extended shooting sessions, a simple guideline: fire 5–10 rounds, then allow 2–3 minutes of cooling before continuing. This preserves both suppression performance and long-term durability.

07 Cleaning & Maintenance

The HEL1O is a one-piece monolithic suppressor. It cannot be disassembled and does not require routine tear-down maintenance. Centerfire rifle suppressors accumulate carbon fouling more slowly than pistol or rimfire designs, and the HEL1O’s titanium construction is highly resistant to corrosion.

Recommended Service Intervals

Perform a thread cleaning when removing the suppressor. Perform a full solvent soak or ultrasonic cleaning approximately every 500 – 1,000 rounds, depending on cartridge and barrel length. Shorter barrels and magnum cartridges produce more fouling — clean at the shorter end of this interval.

After Every Shooting Session

Remove the suppressor from the barrel. Using a nylon or brass brush (never steel), clean the mounting threads on both the suppressor and barrel to remove carbon buildup. Wipe the exterior with a clean, dry microfiber cloth. Store the suppressor dry — do not leave residual solvent inside.

Full Cleaning — Solvent Soak Method

Use a suppressor-safe solvent that is approved for titanium and Cerakote finishes. We recommend Breakthrough Clean Technologies Suppressor Cleaner or an equivalent water-based, ammonia-free, petroleum-free formula. Cap or plug the muzzle end of the suppressor, fill the bore with solvent, and allow it to soak for 12–24 hours. Drain thoroughly, rinse with clean water, and allow to dry completely before use. Expect some loosened carbon to blow out during the first few rounds after a soak — this is normal.

Full Cleaning — Ultrasonic Method

Ultrasonic cleaning is safe and effective for the HEL1O’s titanium body and Cerakote Glacier finish. Submerge the suppressor in an ultrasonic bath with a suppressor-safe cleaning solution. Run the ultrasonic cycle for 30 minutes. Remove, rinse thoroughly with clean water, and dry completely. For oven drying, set at 275°F for 30 minutes to ensure all moisture is removed from the internal geometry.

Do Not Use

Do not use chlorine-based cleaners, acetone, CLR, or aggressive acidic solvents. These chemicals can damage the Cerakote Glacier finish and may etch the titanium substrate. Do not use steel brushes or abrasive pads on any surface. Do not run cleaning patches through the bore — patches can become lodged in the internal geometry and cause a dangerous obstruction.

Always store the suppressor completely dry. Residual solvent left inside can expel on the next firing session and may stain the finish or produce unexpected flash.

08 Cerakote Glacier Series Finish

The HEL1O is finished in Cerakote Glacier Series — a professional-grade, air-cured ceramic coating specifically engineered for extreme high-temperature applications. This coating is thermally stable to 1,800°F and is designed to withstand thermal shock, including direct quenching in water at high temperature, without cracking, peeling, or discoloration.

Glacier Series provides industry-leading corrosion resistance in both heated and ambient conditions, 100% UV stability (the finish will not fade in sunlight), and superior adhesion to the titanium substrate. The finish is PFAS-free.

Care & Maintenance

Wipe the exterior with a clean microfiber cloth after each use to remove carbon deposits and fingerprints. For stubborn fouling on the exterior, use a suppressor-safe solvent or CLP applied to the cloth — not directly to the suppressor. Avoid abrasive pads, steel wool, or wire brushes on the exterior surface.

Some minor discoloration near the blast chamber area is normal after extended use at high temperature. This is cosmetic and does not affect the structural integrity or protective properties of the coating.

Finish Caution

Do not use chlorine-based or acetone-based products on the Cerakote finish. Avoid aggressive acidic or alkaline cleaners (CLR, oven cleaner, etc.). These chemicals can degrade or discolor the ceramic coating. When using ultrasonic cleaning, ensure the solution is Cerakote-safe and titanium-safe.
